Mt. Tam Innovations has an exciting opportunity for a Learning Technology Developer with experience in Moodle/Totara, AWS Cloud, eLearning authoring, and additional coding (CSS/HTML) skills. MTI is a genuine Agile and Start-up environment, a very collaborative and tech-obsessed team. This resource will provide ongoing technical support and maintenance for our new and fast-growing Moodle-based Virtual Learning Environment, Totara. They will also be responsible for the configuration of the future upgrade from Totara 11 to Totara 12 and its successful integration with other key business systems and processes.

Project Details

  • Resource must be an independent contractor

  • Hours are project based, but work expectation is about 10-20 hours a week

  • Resource will scope the project upon on-boarding to provide a professional opinion on timeline

  • Project will run through early 2021

  • Resource will work remotely and be available on Eastern Standard Time

  • Rate is projected at $40-$50/hr but is commensurate on experience

Responsibilities

  • Build on learning platforms (based on Moodle)

  • Fixes and enhancements

  • Deliver high-quality code, working in an environment that strives for innovation

  • Some server admin and dev ops responsibilities

  • Provide AWS Cloud Admin support

  • Collaborate with other product owners and learning technologists

  • Comfortable talking to, demonstrating, and deploying to customers

  • Design, communicate, implement and test new features, components, and functionality

Experience

  • A background in Moodle, Totara, & AWS Cloud

  • Knowledgeable in creating high quality, scalable, and secure tech

  • Superior knowledge of PHP/JavaScript/HTML/CSS applications

  • Possess past experience with modern coding, testing, debugging, and automation techniques

  • Knowledgeable regarding front and back-end web technologies, from UI to database, and an ability to navigate relational databases

  • Familiarity with some (preferably all of): PHP7, MySQL, HTML5, AWS, Ubuntu

  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to architect solutions based on general requirements and discussions

  • Familiarity with standard professional software development processes including working from requirements and standards documents, task estimation, documenting designs, source code control, unit testing, etc.

  • Able to express and communicate thoughts and ideas, both written and verbal, to both technical and non-technical audiences succinctly and successfully

  • Analytical, organized, detail-oriented, and self-directed

  • Able to work well unsupervised or within a small team in a start-up environment
